Microsoft’s commitment to
sustainability with Windows 11

Starting with Windows 11, version 22H2, Windows Update is now carbon aware2, helping make it easier for devices to reduce carbon emissions. Windows 11 has made some changes to the default power settings for screen and sleep to help reduce energy use when computers are idle. When devices are plugged in, turned on, connected to the internet and regional carbon intensity data is available, Windows Update will schedule installations at specific times of the day (when doing so may result in lower-carbon emissions because a higher proportion of electricity is coming from lower-carbon sources on the electric grid).

Lenovo

Lenovo is committed to ESG and leading the way in sustainability innovations, starting with sustainable packaging where we use bio-based materials to reduce the plastic and carbon footprint of new technology. Lenovo has created a packaging cushion made from 90% recycled plastic on all 2022 Lenovo Yoga 6 and Yoga 7 series and the packaging boxes for all Yoga products are made from responsibly managed forests1. Lenovo also introduced 50% recycled aluminum for the A cover of the Yoga 6 Gen 7, and 50% recycled aluminum in the base cover of 2022 Yoga Slim 9i laptop1. All our 2021 and 2022 Yoga laptops are ENERGY STAR® certified with 25% recycled plastic in battery pack frames of all 2022 Yoga laptops1. Additionally, the Lenovo CO2 Offset Service gives you a simple and transparent way to offset carbon emissions associated with your PC by supporting one of several United Nations climate action projects like windmills, solar cells, and renewable energy initiatives around the world.

Not so fun fact:
As a society, we generate around 40 million metric tons of E-Waste every year and only 12.5 percent is recycled according to some sources.3 This means that most E-Waste is sent to landfills and incinerators, releasing harmful toxins into the air. By trading-in old devices with this new initiative, we can help give your old tech a new life.

We are also helping encourage customers to recycle their old devices and properly dispose of electronic waste management through selected retailers.4 Check out more details on how you can trade in and upgrade from the retailers listed below.
